W i l s o n C e m e t e r yWilson Road, Pittsfield, MaineDirections: From center of town of Pittsfield, travel west on Park St./Somerset Ave. to intersection of outer Somerset Avenue, Crawford Road and Phillips Corner Road. Turn right onto Phillips Corner Rd, proceed to end of road (2.5 miles) and intersection of Route 2. Make a left turn onto Rt. 2 West and travel 3.3 miles, continuing past Tilton Corner to midway on down side of rise, (Sibley Pond at bottom of rise), turn onto Wilson Road on the left. Proceed 0.1 mile on Wilson Road to cemetery on left roadside. For map, see cemeteries.pdf Note: There are 15 unmarked graves with only a slate or field stone. Town history has it that this cemetery was desecrated in the 1940’s for an unknown reason and the remaining stones righted and placed in a uniform manner. It is doubtful they are in their original location. 5-May-2002 kmp. |
